HKEX stated on September 18 that its derivatives market has continued its growth momentum this year, with average daily trading volume of futures and options contracts rising 5% year-on-year in the first eight months. To support market development and further enhance the capital efficiency of market participants, HKEX will lower the minimum client base margin requirements for its derivatives and stock options markets. The first phase of the Client Margin Multiplier (CMM) optimization measures will take effect next Monday (September 21, 2026). The second phase is planned to be implemented in March 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
