Data showed that from January to August, the postal industry's business revenue (excluding direct operating revenue of Postal Savings Bank) totaled 1,230.45 billion yuan, up 6.0% year on year. Among this, express delivery business revenue totaled 1,028.92 billion yuan, up 7.4% year on year. The postal industry's delivery volume totaled 145.46 billion pieces, up 4.0% year on year. In August, the postal industry's business revenue reached 150.54 billion yuan, up 5.3% year on year. Among this, express delivery business revenue reached 127.15 billion yuan, up 6.9% year on year.

State Post Bureau Releases the Operating Situation of the Postal Industry from January to August 2026
From January to August, the postal industry's business revenue (excluding direct operating revenue of Postal Savings Bank) totaled 1,230.45 billion yuan, up 6.0% year on year. Among this, express delivery business revenue totaled 1,028.92 billion yuan, up 7.4% year on year.
From January to August, the postal industry's delivery volume totaled 145.46 billion pieces, up 4.0% year on year. Among this, express delivery volume totaled 134.06 billion pieces, up 4.6% year on year.
In August, the postal industry's business revenue reached 150.54 billion yuan, up 5.3% year on year. Among this, express delivery business revenue reached 127.15 billion yuan, up 6.9% year on year.
In August, the postal industry's delivery volume reached 18.03 billion pieces, up 2.3% year on year. Among this, express delivery volume reached 16.60 billion pieces, up 2.7% year on year.
By business type, from January to August, same-city express delivery volume totaled 9.75 billion pieces, down 7.8% year on year; intercity express delivery volume totaled 121.51 billion pieces, up 5.7% year on year; international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express delivery volume totaled 2.80 billion pieces, up 3.8% year on year.
From January to August, same-city, intercity, and international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express delivery volume accounted for 7.3%, 90.6% and 2.1% of total express delivery volume, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of same-city express delivery volume decreased by 1.0 percentage point, the proportion of intercity express delivery volume increased by 1.0 percentage point, and the proportion of international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan business volume remained basically flat.
From January to August, the proportions of express delivery business revenue in the eastern, central and western regions were 73.7%, 15.6% and 10.7%, respectively, and the proportions of express delivery volume were 68.9%, 20.7% and 10.4%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery business revenue in the eastern region decreased by 0.3 percentage point, and the proportion of express delivery volume decreased by 2.5 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery business revenue in the central region increased by 0.1 percentage point, and the proportion of express delivery volume increased by 1.3 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery business revenue in the western region increased by 0.2 percentage point, and the proportion of express delivery volume increased by 1.2 percentage points.
From January to August, the brand concentration index CR8 for express delivery business revenue was 86.9, down 0.1 from January to July; the brand concentration index CR8 for express delivery volume was 96.2, basically flat from January to July.
