HKGAI welcomes multiple key innovation and technology measures, fully committed to advancing "AI industrialization and industry AI-ization"
HKGAI will actively implement the national "15th Five-Year Plan" and Hong Kong's first five-year plan, continue to advance independent research and development and practical application of AI technology in Hong Kong, nurture local innovation and technology talent, and fully assist Hong Kong in building itself into an international innovation and technology center and a hub for high-end talent.
The Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center (HKGAI) warmly welcomes multiple key innovation and technology measures mentioned in the "First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and the new "Policy Address" delivered yesterday by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, including deepening the implementation of the "AI+" initiative and promoting AI training for all, accelerating the development of computing infrastructure such as the Sha Ling data park, building an "AI City Brain" integrated city management system, establishing a new pattern of "three major innovation and technology parks and five major research institutions," improving the AI and data governance framework, and launching a major digital education learning resources platform.
HKGAI will actively implement the national "15th Five-Year Plan" and the "Hong Kong First Five-Year Plan," continuously advance the independent research and development and practical application of AI technology in Hong Kong, nurture local innovation and technology talent, and fully assist Hong Kong in building itself into an international innovation and technology center and a hub for high-end talent.
Guo Yike, Vice-President for Research and Development of HKUST and Director of HKGAI, said that HKGAI will join hands with the government, industry, and all sectors of society to realize the principle of "AI industrialization and industry AI-ization," and firmly believes that AI can drive economic growth across all fields and scenarios and propel Hong Kong toward becoming a smart city. In addition, HKGAI is currently committed to transforming research and development outcomes into diversified artificial intelligence solutions, empowering enterprises and institutions to move toward intelligent upgrading.
In terms of digital government and citizen services, HKGAI will further deepen its integration with the "iAM Smart" platform in the future, helping citizens search for and obtain various e-government and public services in a faster and more direct manner, jointly creating a seamlessly connected "one-stop" smart government service experience.
Regarding the "2026 Policy Address" proposal to issue AI Agent safety management guidelines applicable to society as a whole, HKGAI will fully cooperate with the HKSAR Government's safety management guidelines and governance framework, and is willing to provide technical advice on local model alignment and safety evaluation experience to ensure that AI promotes social development under the premise of safety, trustworthiness, and compliance. In addition, HKGAI also supports the government's full efforts to advance the construction of the Sha Ling data park.
