The appointment of Yan, who has dealmaking experience, would be an important step in DeepSeek's transformation. The company, originally a research-focused lab funded by its founder's hedge fund, is shifting toward a more conventional corporate structure. A CFO typically plays a central role in managing investor communications, financial controls, capital allocation, and the disclosure processes required for a listing.
According to Zero2IPO, a Chinese venture capital industry service provider, Yan Wentao was born in 1991, and his representative investment projects include AI developer and DeepSeek competitor MINIMAX (00100).
