Hong Kong Monetary Authority: Toh Kiat Mei appointed as Chief Legal Advisor, effective February 12, 2027.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today (September 4) that the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong has approved the appointment of Doreen Chan as Chief Legal Counsel, equivalent to the level of Assistant Vice President, based on the recommendation of the governing committee under the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (September 4) that the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong has approved the appointment of Dou Jiemei as Chief Legal Counsel, equivalent to the level of Assistant Vice President, based on recommendations from the Governance Committee of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee. The appointment will take effect on February 12, 2027. Dou Jiemei will succeed Jian Jialan, who will retire in February 2027. As Chief Legal Counsel, Dou Jiemei will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on all functions of the HKMA. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said, "Jian Jialan has served the HKMA for over 30 years, consistently providing high-quality legal advice for the work of the HKMA. I sincerely thank her for her outstanding service over the years and her contribution to the work of the HKMA. I, along with all my colleagues at the HKMA, wish her all the best as she embarks on this new chapter in her life."
