Operating Situation of the Software Industry from January to July 2026
In the first seven months of 2026, Chinas software and information technology services industry (hereinafter referred to as "software industry") showed a positive operating trend, with steady growth in software business revenue, stable profit growth, and positive growth in software exports.
I. Overall Operating Situation
In the first seven months, the software business revenue reached 89,785 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.2%. The total profit of the software industry amounted to 10,396 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%. Software business exports were 40.61 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 12.2%.
II. Operational Situation by Sector
Revenue from software products continued to grow steadily. In the first seven months, the revenue from software products increased by 6.3% year-on-year, accounting for 21.6% of the industrys total revenue. Among these, revenue from basic software products increased by 9.4% year-on-year; revenue from industrial software products grew by 8.4% year-on-year.
Revenue from information technology services maintained double-digit growth. In the first seven months, information technology service revenue increased by 10.0% year-on-year, representing 68.7% of the industrys total revenue. Notably, cloud computing and big data services together achieved a year-on-year revenue growth of 12.3%, accounting for 16.7% of information technology service revenue; revenue from integrated circuit design rose by 21.5%; revenue from electronic commerce platform technology services increased by 5.1% year-on-year.
Revenue from information security and embedded system software showed steady growth. In the first seven months, revenue from information security products and services increased by 6.2% year-on-year. Revenue from embedded system software grew by 10.5% year-on-year.
III. Regional Operational Situation
In the first seven months, software business revenue in the eastern, central, western, and northeastern regions increased year-on-year by 9.0%, 14.6%, 9.1%, and 4.9%, respectively. The eastern region accounted for 83.9% of the national software business revenue. In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, software business revenue increased by 8.4% year-on-year, while in the Yangtze River Delta region, it grew by 10.2% year-on-year, with these two regions holding 26.4% and 29.9% of the national software business revenue, respectively. Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong ranked as the top five provinces in terms of software business revenue in the country, with year-on-year growth rates of 8.3%, 9.3%, 9.3%, 10.5%, and 7.0%, respectively.
