On August 27, Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation and Technology and Industry of Hong Kong, attended the launch ceremony of the "AI for All" initiative: AI with HKPC to empower SMEs for operational upgrades. He stated that under the "AI for All" initiative, the Productivity Council will focus on practical enhancements, with a primary support for SMEs and working individuals, providing practical training tailored to their work scenarios. Since its establishment, the Productivity Council has been committed to helping Hong Kong enterprises make effective use of technology to enhance productivity and competitive advantages. As the third implementation organization of the "AI for All" initiative, the Council believes that with its years of experience serving enterprises, it can provide precise and professional support to numerous SMEs, helping them seize the opportunities of the AI era. For instance, the recent rise of "One Person Companies" (OPC) has emerged in response to AI technology development, where entrepreneurs have to play multiple roles within their companies. The Productivity Council has specifically targeted the operational pain points of OPCs, offering corresponding support to achieve a low-cost, high-productivity operational model. Sun Dong stated that AI (artificial intelligence) has become a core element driving global industrial upgrades and digital economic development. Currently, over 90% of enterprises in Hong Kong are SMEs, which are the most essential components of Hong Kong's economic development. Therefore, helping SMEs achieve digital transformation through AI to enhance their competitiveness is one of the key directions of the "AI for All" initiative. He indicated that Hong Kong is now at a critical juncture for economic transformation and achieving high-quality development, with AI as a key engine in this process. It is hoped that through the "AI for All" initiative, AI will not only be an empowering tool for enhancing corporate value and competitiveness but also transform into a super dividend that benefits both SMEs and the general public, making "AI for All" become "Upgrade for All, Opportunity for All" in Hong Kong.
