In terms of news, on August 18, Hong Kong Gold Exchange Trading System Limited (HKGXTS) officially announced its establishment in Hong Kong. The company stated that it will focus on the construction of Hong Kong's gold trading system and related financial technology infrastructure, collaborating with technical partners such as Hundsun Technologies Inc. and Alibaba Cloud to create a secure, stable, efficient, and internationally capable gold trading technology and clearing platform.
Chairman Zhang Dexi of HKGXTS noted that Hong Kong is actively promoting the construction of an international gold trading center and enhancing relevant infrastructure in the gold market, with hopes that the new system will undergo trial operation in the first quarter of 2027. The first phase will integrate all existing products, trading, settlement, clearing, and services of HKGX into a centralized system platform, after which other related electronic services, including services related to gold tokenization, will be introduced.
