News reports on August 18 announced that Amylyx's GLP-1 receptor antagonist Avexitide achieved its primary endpoint in the Phase 3 LUCIDITY trial for post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH), demonstrating a 55% reduction in Grade 2 and 3 hypoglycemic events at week 16 compared to placebo.
The trial also met all secondary endpoints, showing statistically significant and clinically meaningful reductions in multiple glucose monitoring metrics, with Avexitide demonstrating overall good tolerability and no treatment-related serious adverse events or weight changes reported.
Reportedly, Amylyx is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapies for communities with high unmet medical needs, currently advancing preclinical and clinical development projects in endocrine diseases and neurodegenerative disorders. The company plans to submit a New Drug Application (NDA) for Avexitide to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by the end of 2026 and, if approved, aims for potential commercialization in 2027.
