CAI CORP (00080) announced that based on a preliminary review of the unaudited consolidated management accounts of the Group for the six months ending on June 30, 2026 (the "Period") and the information currently available to the Board, the Group expects to record a loss attributable to the Companys owners of approximately HKD 61 million for the Period, while the loss attributable to the Companys owners for the six months ending on June 30, 2025, was approximately HKD 4.3 million. The expected increase in loss is primarily due to the fair value losses recognized through profit or loss on the Group's financial assets, particularly listed equity securities. Following the completion of a rights issue by the Company in November 2025, the Group's portfolio of listed securities has significantly expanded. As of June 30, 2026, the carrying value of the Group's listed securities was approximately HKD 130 million, compared to approximately HKD 10,000 as of June 30, 2025. During the Period, the Hong Kong stock market remained sluggish, with the Hang Seng Index and the Hang Seng Tech Index declining by approximately 10.7% and 18.9%, respectively. The general weakness in the market adversely affected the market value of the Group's portfolio of listed securities, resulting in significant unrealized fair value losses during the Period.
