In the first half of the year, the number of inbound tourists to Macau increased by 9% to 20.94 million, with mainland Chinese tourists increasing by 11% year-on-year.
According to the analysis of customer sources, the number of mainland Chinese tourists in the first half of the year increased by 11.0% year-on-year to 15,286,203, with independent travelers (8,417,542) increasing by 13.6%.
On July 17, the Statistics and Census Service of the Macao Special Administrative Region released the data for the first half of 2026 on inbound tourists. The data shows that the number of inbound tourists in the first half of 2026 increased by 9.0% year-on-year to 20,944,446. However, same-day visitors reached 12,889,844, a 15.3% increase year-on-year; while overnight visitors were 8,054,602, a slight increase of 0.2% year-on-year. The average length of stay for tourists was 1.0 day, a decrease of 0.1 day year-on-year; among them, the average length of stay for overnight visitors was 2.3 days, consistent with the same period last year.
In terms of source of visitors, in the first half of the year, mainland Chinese tourists increased by 11.0% year-on-year to 15,286,203, with independent travelers (8,417,542) increasing by 13.6%. Hong Kong tourists numbered 3,659,900, a slight increase of 0.3% year-on-year; Taiwanese tourists numbered 575,895, an increase of 24.7% year-on-year.
There were a total of 1,422,448 international tourists in the first half of the year, an increase of 6.0% year-on-year. In the Southeast Asian market, Thai tourists (122,494) increased by 51.4%, while Filipino tourists (270,441) decreased by 1.2%. Indian tourists (65,542) from South Asia and Korean tourists (284,258) from Northeast Asia increased by 12.4% and 0.7% respectively year-on-year. Among long-haul tourists, American tourists (82,121) increased by 7.4% year-on-year.
In June 2026, there were a total of 2,801,152 inbound tourists, a decrease of 3.1% year-on-year; however, same-day visitors (1,637,260) increased by 1.6%, while overnight visitors (1,163,892) decreased by 9.0%. The overall average length of stay for tourists decreased by 0.1 day to 1.1 days year-on-year, while the average length of stay for overnight visitors (2.4 days) remained unchanged.
