From January to May 2026, the total electricity transaction volume in the country reached 305.73 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 24.8% year-on-year.
According to the data from the National Energy Administration, in May 2026, the national electricity market trading volume reached 626.8 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%. In terms of trading scope, the electricity traded within provinces was 490.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 26.9% year-on-year; the electricity traded across provinces and regions was 136.2 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 12.9% year-on-year. In terms of trading variety, the medium and long-term trading volume was 561.7 billion kilowatt-hours; the spot trading volume was 65.1 billion kilowatt-hours. The volume of green electricity trading was 31.1 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. The volume of electricity purchased by grid enterprises through market-based agents was 66.6 billion kilowatt-hours.

In terms of trading variety, the medium and long-term trading volume was 267.94 billion kilowatt-hours; the spot trading volume was 37.79 billion kilowatt-hours. The volume of green electricity trading was 13.64 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%. The volume of electricity purchased by grid enterprises through market-based agents was 32.59 billion kilowatt-hours.
