Encourage the large-scale development and utilization of deep geothermal energy, and greatly increase its proportion in urban heating. Innovate and promote underground heat exchange technology that does not require water extraction, simplify the pre-approval process, and accelerate project implementation.
On May 28th, the General Office of the National Energy Administration issued a notice on organizing pilot projects for high-quality development and utilization of geothermal energy. It was proposed that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, a number of large-scale geothermal energy development and utilization projects with advanced technology, standardized management, and significant benefits should be built to form typical technical routes and operational models for shallow and deep geothermal energy development and utilization that can be replicated and promoted. Encourage large-scale development and utilization of deep geothermal energy, and vigorously increase its proportion in urban heating. Innovate and promote underground heat exchange technology of "taking heat without taking water", simplify pre-approval processes, and accelerate project implementation. Explore advanced technical routes and investment operation models, and promote the use of shallow geothermal energy for heating in rural areas to replace traditional fossil energy heating such as natural gas. Strengthen research and development of geothermal power-related technologies and industrial cultivation, and promote the application of geothermal energy in industrial production fields.
