On Thursday, Eli Lilly & Co (LLY.US) surged over 5% in early trading, approaching its previous all-time high, now trading at $1134.46. According to reports, Eli Lilly CEO Dave Ricks revealed that the planned investment of 2.3 billion euros (approximately $26.7 billion) in Germany will be cut in half. The weight loss injection production facility in Alzey, western Rhineland-Palatinate, has already received an investment of over 1 billion euros. Despite the reduction in production capacity, the factory still plans to start production in 2027 with only half of the originally planned 1000 jobs retained. Ricks stated that the funds initially planned for Germany will now be redirected to Pennsylvania in the United States, or used for the construction of a new production facility.
