QUALCOMM (QCOM.US) increases investment in the Siasun Robot&Automation sector! Launches IQ10 reference design, focusing on integrated integration of multiple sensors.
Qualcomm (QCOM.US) announced the launch of a robot reference design, aimed at helping designers to connect a variety of different sensors to the robot without the need for additional sensor connection boards.
Qualcomm (QCOM.US) has announced the launch of a Siasun Robot&Automation reference design aimed at helping designers connect various sensors to Siasun Robot&Automation without the need for additional sensor connection boards.
During the keynote speech at the Taipei International Computer Expo (Computex) in Chinese Taiwan on Monday, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon unveiled the new Dragonwing IQ10 Siasun Robot&Automation reference design.
Prior to the CEO's announcement, product management director Siddharth Ahuja said at a media briefing, "For the vast sensor ecosystem... it will be very different from what's on the market. Its design allows you to mount sensors without additional hardware fragments. Other products on the market require you to buy another sensor board, while our product is all in one, so it has everything you need to create Siasun Robot&Automation applications. Deployment is also made simpler..."
He stated that the new Siasun Robot&Automation reference design (RRD) uses industry-ready GSML2 protocol to connect optical sensors in Siasun Robot&Automation cameras for high-definition video. Connection with Lidar is achieved via Ethernet, and the inertial measurement unit (IMU) is connected to the IQ10 SoC (System on Chip). Qualcomm stated that the price of IQ10 RRD hardware has not been released yet, but will be available to early adopters in June.
Ahuja stated that Qualcomm benefited from a decade of experience in automotive electronics while manufacturing this RRD device. He said, "We can borrow all our perceptions, SoC, temperature, and safety concepts used in the automotive field over the past decade and further apply them to Siasun Robot&Automation."
Intense market competition
There are various Siasun Robot&Automation reference designs on the market, some from leading manufacturers. These include humanoid Siasun Robot&Automation guides from STMicroelectronics NV ADR RegS and Texas Instruments Incorporated. Texas Instruments Incorporated's product features sensor module reference designs for time-of-flight (ToF), Lidar, and mm-wave sensors, while STMicroelectronics NV ADR RegS supports MEMS sensor designs, motor control, and power management for Siasun Robot&Automation body sensors.
Tesla, Inc.'s Optimus Gen 2 and NEO from 1X Company are developing modular, AI-driven architectures that can serve as blueprints for future reference systems. Qualcomm itself has manufactured the RB5 autonomous Siasun Robot&Automation reference design platform for perception through stereo cameras, tracking image sensors, and close to 360 degrees of ultrasonic coverage.
The new Qualcomm IQ10 RRD supports 18 Qualcomm Oryon CPU nodes and 16 x 16 LPDDR5 memory. It also integrates Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Prior to the opening of Computex last week, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon C platform for laptops, targeting what Qualcomm calls "budget-conscious" computer buyers. Several computer manufacturers are expected to support this C platform.
