Ministry of Commerce: China and Europe are discussing establishing a mechanism for trade and investment negotiations.
The spokesperson stated that they hope the European side and the Chinese side will work together, implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, properly address differences and frictions through dialogue and consultation, and promote the stable and healthy development of China-Europe economic and trade relations.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce answers questions from reporters about the European Commission's discussions on China-EU relations. The spokesperson stated that China and the EU are important economic and trade partners based on equality and mutual benefit. It is hoped that the EU will abide by WTO rules, uphold free trade and fair competition, and firmly oppose protectionism and unilateralism. Communication channels between China and the EU are open, and both sides are exploring the establishment of a trade and investment consultation mechanism and will conduct relevant dialogues. It is hoped that the EU and China will work towards each other, jointly implement the consensus of the leaders, resolve differences and frictions through dialogue and negotiation, and promote the stable and healthy development of China-EU economic and trade relations. If the EU insists on unilaterally introducing new trade tools and adopting discriminatory restrictions, China will resolutely countermeasure and take effective measures to safeguard its own interests.
