Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) announced on Wednesday on the social platform X that its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta version of driving assistant software has officially landed in Lithuania. Following approval in the Netherlands last month, Lithuania becomes the second country in Europe to open up this feature. The Dutch Vehicle Authority (RDW) preliminarily approved the system for use on public roads on April 10th. The Netherlands is working towards obtaining EU-wide approval for this certification, allowing other EU member states to directly accept the Dutch approval results and permit Tesla, Inc. to deploy the FSD feature. The Lithuanian Road Administration has confirmed that the country officially recognizes the FSD compliance certification issued by the Netherlands. It was previously expected that Belgium would follow the Netherlands in allowing this technology, as the Flemish Region had initiated the approval process and Tesla, Inc. vehicles were conducting FSD real-world tests on roads in the jurisdiction. Tesla, Inc. CEO Elon Musk stated that he believes the EU will soon fully approve the use of FSD on roads, but regulatory agencies in several Nordic countries still hold skeptical attitudes towards this autonomous driving technology. Before the approval from RDW, the system underwent over a year and a half of testing on test tracks and public roads. Over the past year, Tesla, Inc. has also completed road testing in multiple European countries.
