The Hong Kong Monetary Authority today (May 14) announced the main analytical accounts of the Exchange Fund as of the end of April 2026. In April, the Exchange Fund's overseas assets increased by HK$84.4 billion to HK$3,655 billion. The monetary base was HK$2,072.2 billion, including promissory notes, circulating notes and coins issued by the government, surpluses in the banking system, and Exchange Fund bills and bonds issued. The Exchange Fund's claims on the Hong Kong private sector totaled HK$378.5 billion. Total external liabilities amounted to HK$93.1 billion.
