On May 6th, the Ministry of Transport released data showing that from May 1st to May 5th, the total number of inter-regional population movements in the whole society was 1517.128 million, with an average of 303.4256 million per day, an increase of 3.49% compared to the same period last year. During the holiday period, the total number of railway passenger transportation was 106.377 million, with an average of 2127.54 million per day, an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period last year. The total number of road passenger movements (including non-commercial small passenger car trips on highways and ordinary national and provincial roads, as well as road commercial passenger transportation) was 1391.72 million, with an average of 2783.44 million per day, an increase of 3.51% compared to the same period last year. Among them, the total number of road commercial passenger transportation was 198.85 million, with an average of 397.7 million per day, an increase of 9.53% compared to the same period last year; the total number of non-commercial small passenger car trips on highways and ordinary national and provincial roads was 1192.87 million, with an average of 2385.74 million per day, an increase of 2.57% compared to the same period last year. The total waterway passenger transportation was 8.492 million, with an average of 169.84 million per day, a decrease of 1.37% compared to the same period last year. The total civil aviation passenger transportation was 10.54 million, with an average of 210.8 million per day, a decrease of 5.74% compared to the same period last year. On May 5th, 2026, the total number of inter-regional population movements in the whole society was 282.06 million, a decrease of 5.8% month-on-month, and an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year. Among them: the railway passenger transportation was 22.771 million, an increase of 11.7% month-on-month and 7.9% compared to the same period last year. The total number of road passenger movements (including non-commercial small passenger car trips on highways and ordinary national and provincial roads, as well as road commercial passenger transportation) was 256.04 million, a decrease of 6.9% month-on-month and an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period last year. Among them, the total number of road commercial passenger transportation was 39.52 million, an increase of 2.3% month-on-month and 2.5% compared to the same period last year; the total number of non-commercial small passenger car trips on highways and ordinary national and provincial roads was 216.52 million, a decrease of 8.5% month-on-month and an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period last year. On May 5th, the total waterway passenger transportation was 9.66 million, a decrease of 42.7% month-on-month and 5.4% compared to the same period last year. The total civil aviation passenger transportation was 22.84 million, an increase of 6.1% month-on-month and a decrease of 1.4% compared to the same period last year. The national postal industry received 51.8 million packages, an increase of 5.5% month-on-month; and delivered 48.9 million packages, an increase of 1.7% month-on-month.
