In the first quarter of 2026, the preliminary value of Macao's gross domestic product (GDP) was 108.01 billion Macao patacas, a real growth of 7.1% year-on-year, and the total economic output has recovered to 90.3% of the same period in 2019.
According to data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau, benefited by the Chinese New Year holiday and a series of festive activities, the number of visitors to Macau in the first quarter of this year showed a significant increase, driving service exports to maintain rapid growth, and Macau's overall economy presents a stable and positive development trend. The preliminary value of the local GDP in the first quarter of 2026 was 108.01 billion Macau Patacas, a substantial increase of 7.1% compared to the same period last year, with the total economic volume recovering to 90.3% of the same period in 2019.
Analyzing the major components, driven by a 13.7% year-on-year increase in inbound tourists in the first quarter, overall service exports rose by 13.9%. On the demand side, private consumption expenditure increased by 2.8%, while government final consumption expenditure and total fixed capital formation recorded decreases of 4.8% and 21.9% respectively.
