On the news front, recently, according to market media reports, META announced a partnership with Overview Energy to introduce space CECEP Solar Energy into data centers. The agreement allows the company to have priority access to Overview's space CECEP Solar Energy system with a capacity of up to 1GW. Initial orbital demonstrations will be conducted in 2028, with commercial power delivery expected by 2030. Nat Sahlstrom, Vice President of Energy and Sustainability at Meta, stated in a statement that this move is part of Meta's large-scale artificial intelligence investment plan, with the company investing billions of dollars to ensure the energy, infrastructure, and computing power needed for its AI plan. According to Sinolink calculations, assuming an increase in the average power of global satellite single stars from 2026 to 2028 by expanding the solar wing area by 50% proportionally, space photovoltaic new installed capacity is expected to exceed 400MW in 2026 and could reach 4GW by 2028. Soochow pointed out that Hainan Drinda New Energy Technology has cash to acquire a 60% stake in Shanghai Fuyaoxinghe Aerospace Hi-Tech Holding Group, indirectly controlling Shanghai Skyriver; the company has ample orders covering various types of satellites including remote sensing, communication, and computing power, while also providing resources for on-orbit validation of space photovoltaics.
