The Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Parliament, Kalibaf, stated in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, in the early hours of the 11th local time, that Iran is sincere in negotiating with the United States, but does not trust the US because previous negotiations between the two sides "always ended in failure and betrayal." If the US tries to use this negotiation as a show, Iran is prepared to defend its rights.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Kalibaf led an Iranian delegation that arrived in Islamabad late at night on the 10th Tehran time. He pointed out at the airport when answering reporters' questions that within less than a year, Iran and the US have held multiple negotiations. Despite Iran's sincerity, the US has attacked Iran during the negotiations and committed war crimes multiple times.
Kalibaf emphasized that in the upcoming negotiations, if the US sincerely wishes to reach an agreement and respect the rights of the Iranian people, "they will also see our willingness to reach an agreement." But if the US tries to use the negotiations to stage a "show with no results or deception," Iran is prepared to defend its rights.
According to Iranian media reports, the Iranian delegation will meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz on the morning of the 11th. If the US accepts the precondition set by Iran, the two sides will start negotiations at the Serena Hotel in the afternoon. The Iranian delegation includes Foreign Minister Aragchi, Secretary of the Defense Committee Ali Akbar Ahmadiyan, and Central Bank Governor Abdulnasir Hemmati, and other senior officials.
Kalibaf posted on social media on the 10th, saying that the preconditions for starting negotiations between Iran and the US include a ceasefire in Lebanon and the unfreezing of Iran's frozen assets.
