On April 9th, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced that Hong Kong's official foreign exchange reserves at the end of March 2026 were $430.8 billion (down from $439.3 billion at the end of February 2026). Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, Hong Kong's foreign exchange reserves at the end of March 2026 were $430.5 billion (down from $439.3 billion at the end of February 2026). The total amount of foreign exchange reserves of $430.8 billion is equivalent to more than 5 times the circulating currency in Hong Kong, or approximately 38% of the Hong Kong dollar money supply M3.
