Meta Platforms (META.US) Launches New AI Model "Muse Spark", Stock Price Soars Nearly 9% at One Point
Meta Platforms officially launches the new AI model "Muse Spark," which is its first core achievement released after heavily investing in AI.
On Wednesday, Meta Platforms (META.US) officially launched a new AI model "Muse Spark", which is the first core result after its heavy investment in AI, marking the company's attempt to regain dominance in a market dominated by OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google (GOOG.US, GOOGL.US).
The model was developed by Meta's "Super Intelligence Lab" and led by former Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang. This move came after Meta's acquisition of Scale AI for up to $14.3 billion last year.
Unlike the pursuit of ultimate performance by "flagship models", Muse Spark emphasizes "lightweight efficiency" and has strong reasoning abilities in complex tasks such as science, mathematics, and health, while significantly reducing computing costs. Meta stated that the new model, through the restructuring of AI infrastructure, has achieved performance close to the previous Llama 4 medium-sized model using lower computing resources.
Boosted by the positive news, Meta's stock price surged nearly 9% at one point during the day, marking its largest single-day increase since January. At the close, Meta was up 6.5% to $612.42.
From a strategic perspective, Meta is accelerating its commercial AI layout. On one hand, the company plans to open up Muse Spark to developers through APIs to explore new sources of revenue; on the other hand, the model will be gradually embedded in core product ecosystems such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Ray-Ban smart glasses.
It is worth noting that Meta is significantly increasing its investment in AI. The company expects AI-related capital expenditures to reach $115 billion to 135 billion by 2026, nearly doubling from the previous year. At the same time, the global generative AI market is expected to grow from approximately $22 billion in 2025 to $325 billion by 2033, with a compound annual growth rate exceeding 40%.
