Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) is expanding its AI-driven consumer health product line, launching Copilot Health. The service can gather data from multiple sources including wearable devices, health records, and lab test results to provide what is called "medical intelligence." Microsoft Corporation believes that this new feature will help pave the way for "medical superintelligence." Microsoft Corporation defines "medical superintelligence" as "health AI that ultimately combines the broad knowledge of a general practitioner with the deep expertise of a specialist." Copilot Health will be rolled out in stages. The service will initially launch in the United States for users aged 18 and above, and will be available in English. Copilot Health can collect data from over 50 wearable devices such as Fitbit, Oura, and Apple Health, including activity levels, sleep patterns, and vital signs. It can also integrate health records from over 50,000 hospitals and medical facilities in the United States through HealthEx, including visit summaries, medication lists, and test results. Copilot Health can also import lab test results from Function. Microsoft Corporation states that the conversations and data in Copilot Health are isolated from the regular features of Copilot and will not be used to train AI models. It has more strict access, privacy, and security controls, including encryption, and allows users to manage and delete their data. While Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) has been at the forefront of collecting health data and providing insights to consumers, many other companies are also entering this field. Earlier this year, OpenAI released ChatGPT Health to help users "feel more informed, prepared, and confident." Earlier this month, Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) launched a healthcare AI agent on its website and applications. The AI agent solution is designed to provide patients with personalized health information and guidance based on lab test results and other medical records accessed through health information exchange platforms with patient consent.
