Hong Kong family offices increase to 3384, survey finds 19% plan to reduce exposure to the US in the next three years.
According to a survey conducted by Deloitte commissioned by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, by the end of 2025, each individual family office manages assets of at least 10 million US dollars, with 1,095 managing assets exceeding 100 million US dollars.
The number of single-family offices in Hong Kong increased by 25% from 2023 to the end of last year, reaching 3,384. Hong Kong's efforts to consolidate its position as a financial center in Asia have been remarkable. According to a survey conducted by Deloitte commissioned by the Hong Kong SAR government, by the end of 2025, each single-family office manages assets of at least $10 million, with 1,095 managing assets exceeding $100 million. Survey data shows that 19% of single-family offices plan to reduce their exposure in the United States in the next three years, the highest proportion among all regions surveyed. In contrast, 60% plan to increase investments in Hong Kong, and none plan to reduce.
As Hong Kong positions itself as a super hub connecting mainland China and its capital markets, more and more wealthy individuals are setting up family offices in Hong Kong. Last year, the performance of mainland Chinese capital markets outperformed major global benchmark indices. In addition, the reduced investment by high-net-worth investors in the United States has also supported capital inflows.
By the end of 2024, assets under management in Hong Kong reached HK$35.1 trillion ($4.5 trillion); by mid-2025, Hong Kong had 17,215 ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
The Hong Kong SAR government has exceeded its initial goal of attracting 200 large family offices by 2025. The revised goal is to attract another 220 family offices between 2026 and 2028. To support this goal, authorities have relaxed the requirements of the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, allowing investments through wholly-owned private companies and family-owned investment vehicles to qualify.
