The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, attended a press conference before the executive meeting, stating that this year's mainland Chinese New Year Golden Week will last for 9 days, leading to a peak period of mainland visitors to Hong Kong. Hong Kong will continue its momentum of tourism industry growth and will organize various festive activities.
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu attended a press conference before the executive meeting, stating that this year's Mainland Chinese New Year Golden Week will last for 9 days, bringing a peak period of Mainland visitors to Hong Kong. Hong Kong will continue its tourism growth momentum, hosting multiple festive activities. Starting tomorrow (February 11), all 14 Lunar New Year markets across Hong Kong will open until the early morning of the first day of the lunar year; on Thursday (February 12), the Hong Kong Lantern Exhibition will be held at the Tsim Sha Tsui Open Space for over a month. On the first day of the lunar year, Tsim Sha Tsui will host the International Chinese New Year Performance, with nearly 60 groups performing. From the second day to the fifteenth day of the lunar month, float parades will be held at different locations, including the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong; on the second day of the lunar year, there will be a Lunar New Year Fireworks Display; on the third day of the lunar year, the Sha Tin Racecourse will host the Horse Racing Day of the Year of the Horse; on the fifth day of the lunar year, the Hong Kong Stadium will host the Lunar New Year Cup soccer match. In addition, there will be various activities at Tai Po Lam Tsuen Wishing Festival, Wong Tai Sin Temple, and Che Kung Temple. He pointed out that the inter-departmental working group for festive arrangements led by the Chief Secretary for Administration met last week to coordinate cooperation among various government departments, agencies, and sectors, to prepare and respond to border services, public transportation, etc. The Hong Kong Tourism Board has also launched a dedicated webpage, and the Security Bureau will facilitate early trip planning for travelers through the information platform BorderPass. John Lee Ka-chiu also mentioned that this year is the beginning year of the National 15th Five-Year Plan, and the SAR Government will proactively connect with the National 15th Five-Year Plan to create a new path for Hong Kong's competitiveness, further develop the economy, improve people's livelihoods, and seize major opportunities.
