Hong Kong property: It is expected that the number of newly registered residential parking spaces in Hong Kong in January will reach 450, an increase of approximately 6% compared to the average monthly figure last year.

Director Wang Pindi of the Hong Kong Property Research Department stated that according to the data from the Land Registry, there have been 335 residential parking spaces registered so far this month (up to the 22nd). If the current registration progress is projected, it is expected that there will be a total of 450 registrations for the month of January, which is significantly lower compared to the previous month's record high of 747 registrations due to the sale of parking spaces in the Taikoo City project. However, it is still about 6% higher than the average of around 425 registrations per month last year. Since it takes time from signing the sales contract to submitting the registration for land registration, the registration cases in January 2026 mainly reflect the market conditions in December 2025. The significant decrease in the monthly registration of residential parking spaces is mainly due to the large number of registrations for parking spaces in Taikoo City last month. It is believed that many of them were registrations for the sale of parking lots from demolished parking lots, which led to the high registration volume last month. The trends in the registration of residential parking spaces in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories this month also show similar patterns. This month, there have been 47 registrations for residential parking spaces in Hong Kong Island, a decrease of about 88.6% compared to the same period last month. In contrast, Kowloon and the New Territories have seen an increase in registrations compared to the same period last month. Kowloon had 112 registrations for residential parking spaces so far this month, an increase of about 36.6% compared to the same period last month, while the New Territories had 176 registrations, an increase of about 12.1% compared to the same period last month.
