On November 26, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a video conference with European Commission for Trade and Economic Security Commissioner Dombrovskis to exchange views on trade issues such as ANSEMI Semiconductor.
On November 26th, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a video call with European Commission Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Xie Feifan to exchange views on trade and economic issues, including ASML Semiconductor. Wang Wentao stated that the root cause of the current global semiconductor supply chain disruption lies in the Netherlands. The Chinese government has always taken a responsible attitude, promptly taking effective measures to maintain and restore the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain. Recently, the Dutch side announced the suspension of an executive order, taking a small step towards resolving the issue, but inappropriate administrative and judicial interventions by the Dutch side have not been lifted. The global semiconductor supply chain has not returned to normal and still faces significant uncertainty. It is hoped that the EU will play an active role in urging the Dutch government to propose constructive solutions as soon as possible to create favorable conditions for companies to conduct internal negotiations.
Xie Feifan expressed gratitude to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for its efforts to address the ASML Semiconductor issue, preventing a crisis in the global semiconductor supply chain. Currently, the issue of ASML Semiconductor has not been completely resolved, and the EU is willing to work with China to further cool down the situation.
Both sides agreed that companies are the main actors in resolving the ASML Semiconductor issue and will jointly urge ASML in the Netherlands and ASML in China to engage in constructive communication to find a long-term solution and restore the smoothness and stability of the global semiconductor supply chain as soon as possible.
Both sides also exchanged views on issues such as China-EU export controls.
