Ma Si Hang said that the Hong Kong Trade Development Council actively cooperates with government policies to promote IP trade and international promotion.
Ma Shi-hang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, attended the "2025 Greater Bay Area Summit Forum - Breaking New Ground for Innovative Economy" and stated that the Council actively cooperates with government policies to promote IP trade and international promotion. The annual "Asian Knowledge Intellectual Property Business Forum" attracts over 3,000 participants. This year, the forum will feature special sessions discussing IP valuation and financing, as well as the latest developments in IP in the Greater Bay Area. Ma Shi-hang emphasized the complementary strengths of Hong Kong and other cities in the Greater Bay Area in different aspects of the industrial chain, which can facilitate the development of original content into brands using the manufacturing capabilities of the Greater Bay Area, allowing more original IPs to go global. Under the theme "From Content to Brand: How Does the Greater Bay Area Incubate International Original IPs?", Ma Shi-hang pointed out that the Trade Development Council provides various platforms to meet the growth needs of brands at different stages. With over 40 exhibitions and large-scale conferences held annually, it serves as an ideal platform for businesses to find buyers or partners. In terms of brand promotion, the "Hong Kong Design Gallery" is an important showcase for creativity, with its online store expanding to key ASEAN countries including Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Additionally, online stores on platforms such as Taobao and JD International assist Hong Kong businesses in exploring the mainland market. He mentioned that the Trade Development Council's "Asian Intellectual Property Trading Platform" has specialized pages for creative and innovative projects, with over 30,000 IP projects to facilitate exchanges and collaborations between local and overseas creative and innovative industries. The "Hong Kong International Licensing Show" is a flagship event in the licensing industry that helps explore cross-border collaborations for industry upgrading and transformation. Other platforms and events such as the "Hong Kong Electronics Fair" and "Start-up Day" incorporate elements of IP trading to connect local and international businesses, assist in protecting innovation achievements, and enhance competitiveness. In February of this year, the Trade Development Council organized a Greater Bay Area study tour, leading 26 Hong Kong design and licensing enterprises to visit cultural and creative incubation institutions in Guangzhou and Dongguan, establishing connections with the local cultural and creative industries.
