Mongolia's government said in a bulletin on the 26th that at the government work meeting held that day, Mongolian Prime Minister Uchral designated the large-scale grassland fire that occurred this month in the Numrug Nature Reserve in the eastern part of the country as a serious ecological incident. An official Mongolian investigation has preliminarily confirmed that the fire was caused by the activities of a convoy of Mobicom Corporation, a telecommunications company with Japanese investment background in Mongolia. The Mongolian side will thoroughly investigate and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the law, seek compensation for ecological losses, and advance ecosystem restoration. "About 80 percent of the Numrug Nature Reserve has been affected by the fire. This is not just a matter of land being burned," Uchral said. This is a serious loss to Mongolia's pristine natural environment, rare wildlife species, and natural heritage.
