Iran Issues New Regulations for Navigating the Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian Strait of Hormuz Management Authority issued a statement on the 23rd, stating that vessels violating Iran's navigation regulations in the Strait of Hormuz will face penalties, detention, or confiscation measures.
On August 24th, Xinhua News Agency reported from Tehran that the Iranian Strait of Hormuz Administration issued a statement on the 23rd saying that vessels violating Iranian regulations regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will face restrictions such as fines, seizure, or confiscation.
The statement noted that cargo owners traveling to and from the Persian Gulf must consult the list of "violating vessels" published by the Strait of Hormuz Administration before chartering a ship to avoid potential issues.
The statement indicated that effective immediately, any vessel that collaborates with a "violating vessel" will also be added to the list. To have a vessel removed from the list, a formal application must be submitted to the Strait of Hormuz Administration along with an explanation.
