Gansu reports "abnormal blood lead levels in children": The lead concentrations in the surrounding air, groundwater, soil, and other environments around the kindergarten all meet the standards, and there is no lead pollution.
On July 20th, the investigation team of Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government released a report on the investigation and handling of the abnormal blood lead levels in children at the Maiji District Kindergarten in Tianshui City. The expert team conducted investigations around the Maishi District Kindergarten to determine if the surrounding environment was contaminated, collecting samples of environmental air, surface water, groundwater, and soil for testing. The environmental air was monitored on-site by an atmospheric monitoring vehicle; surface water, groundwater, and soil samples were sent to Beijing for testing by the China Environmental Monitoring Station. The investigation results showed that the lead concentrations in the environmental air, surface water, groundwater, and soil around the Maishi District Kindergarten all met relevant environmental quality standards, with no lead pollution present.
