The Pearl River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources has initiated Level III emergency response.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Typhoon No. 6, named "Wipha," made landfall along the coast of Taishan, Guangdong on July 20th around 17:50. At the time of landfall, the maximum wind force near the center reached level 12. The Ministry of Water Resources held daily special meetings to deploy tasks related to the safety of reservoirs during the flood season, flood and debris flow prevention in small and medium-sized rivers. On July 19th at 10:00, the Ministry of Water Resources initiated a level IV emergency response for flood prevention in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan, with targeted daily warnings for each province, and sent out three working groups to guide typhoon and storm flood defense work in the three provinces. The Pearl River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources launched a level III emergency response, intensified flood forecasting, and dispatched over 30 professional staff to provide technical support on the front lines.
