On July 17th, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation issued the "Announcement on Adjusting the Consumption Tax Policy for Super Luxury Cars", with the new regulations taking effect from July 20th. It mentioned that the scope of the consumption tax on super luxury cars has been adjusted to include "all types of passenger cars and medium and light commercial vehicles with a retail price of 900,000 yuan or more". As the new regulations will officially take effect at midnight on July 20th, July 19th became the last day for consumers to enjoy tax exemption. On the eve of the implementation of the new regulations, media reporters visited several luxury car sales centers including Porsche on Friday and Saturday, and found that the stores were very popular, with sales consultants being extremely busy. Compared to the niche positioning of super luxury brands, Porsche's product line covers a price range from 600,000 to 3 million yuan, with models such as the 911, Panamera, and Taycan falling within the price range of 900,000 to 2 million yuan targeted by the new policy. A Porsche salesperson told Blue Whale News, "Except for the 718 and Macan, Porsche 911, Panamera, Taycan, and some high-end Cayenne models will all be subject to taxation. The store has been extremely busy these past few days, with increased workload in terms of sales reception, consultation, and booking." He also mentioned that some display cars have been sold, and the best-selling models are the 911 and Panamera. According to a calculation made by a salesperson for reporters, as long as the invoice is issued on Saturday, over 1 million yuan can be saved on a car priced at over 1 million yuan. Therefore, many consumers who were previously hesitant have decided to make a purchase before the new regulations take effect. Apart from the Porsche Cayenne, configurations of models such as the BMW 7 Series, Land Rover Range Rover, and Maybach S-Class, which were originally not within the scope of taxation, will also be subject to additional consumption tax after the new regulations are implemented.
