Cambodia crackdown on online fraud, arresting over two thousand suspects.

Cambodia's Minister of Information, Khieu Kanharith, stated on the evening of the 18th that in a recent crackdown on online scams in Cambodia, a total of 2,270 suspected criminals have been arrested. Kanharith said that authorities conducted raids on 45 scam sites in 12 provinces and cities across Cambodia, with some ringleaders already being prosecuted and most participants being deported to their home countries. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen signed an order on the 14th to launch a nationwide crackdown on telecom crimes in order to maintain public order and social stability. He mentioned that some foreign criminal groups use Cambodia as an illegal base for online activities, so provincial leaders and police must act in accordance with the law to eradicate all telecom scam sites in their jurisdictions.
