National Defense General Administration launched a level four emergency response for flood and typhoon prevention in Guangxi.
Typhoon "Weipa", the sixth typhoon of the year, was located at 17:00 on July 19th over the sea east of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, approximately 700 kilometers away. It is moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of about 30 kilometers per hour, and is expected to make landfall in the area from Shenzhen, Guangdong to Wenchang, Hainan on the afternoon or evening of the 20th, moving westward after landfall and passing the coastal areas of Guangxi on the 21st. Due to its influence, from the 20th to the 22nd, the northern part of the Beibu Gulf and southern areas of Guangxi will experience strong winds and heavy rain, with local rainfall amounts of over 300 millimeters. In accordance with the "National Flood and Drought Emergency Response Plan" and relevant regulations, the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters decided to initiate a level four flood prevention and typhoon emergency response for Guangxi at 18:00 on July 19th.
