Moutai's strong-flavored liquor "wields the knife" on e-commerce channels: 24 stores are removed.
In just 12 days, the list of Maotai sauce-flavored liquor e-commerce channels has once again changed. Compared to the previous list released on July 18, approximately 24 online stores have been removed, while about 4 new stores have been added. Of note, in this latest list of Maotai removals, up to 6 stores under the once "billion-level" giant Godeyingxiang have all been removed, completely bidding farewell to Maotai's core e-commerce system. This is the second major liquor giant to crack down on online channels in just a short few months after Wuliangye, indicating that famous liquor companies are accelerating channel control. In terms of platforms, the newly released online sales list covers seven major e-commerce platforms including JD, Douyin, Tmall, WeChat video account, Kuaishou, Suning, and Vipshop, with a total of over 140 Maotai sauce-flavored liquor flagship stores and many authorized distributor stores. A rough count by reporters found that the number of channels announced this time has significantly decreased compared to the previous one. Specifically, JD platform has reduced 4 stores and added 1 store; Douyin platform had the most noticeable "clean-up", with a total reduction of 10 stores and only 1 new store added; Tmall, WeChat video account, and Suning platforms decreased by 4 stores, 5 stores, and 1 store respectively, with only WeChat video account adding 1 new store; Vipshop platform did not change.
