On July 17, 2025, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Miao Deyu met with South African Deputy Foreign Minister Moraka who accompanied Vice President Mabuza to attend the Third China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo. Miao Deyu stated that during the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit last year, the leaders of the two countries announced the elevation of the China-South Africa relationship to a new era comprehensive strategic partnership, leading the two countries to a new historical starting point. China is willing to work with South Africa to translate the consensus of the two leaders into strong momentum for the steady and far-reaching development of the China-South Africa relationship, firmly uphold each other's core interests, tap into the potential for practical cooperation, strengthen coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as BRICS and the G20, and build a high-level community of shared destiny between China and South Africa. Moraka thanked China for its support for South Africa's economic and social development and its role as the rotating chair of the G20, reaffirming South Africa's firm commitment to the One China principle and willingness to work with China to implement the outcomes of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit, strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, new energy, vocational education and training, promote global South-South solidarity cooperation, and uphold the common interests of developing countries.
