Typhoon "Wipha" is approaching Guangdong. The Pearl River Basin has initiated flood and typhoon emergency response.
Typhoon "Vipa" No. 6 this year was located at 8:00 on the 19th in the northeast of the South China Sea, about 860 kilometers east-southeast of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, with the center near maximum winds of level 10. Currently, the Pearl River Flood Control Headquarters has activated a level IV emergency response for flood and typhoon prevention, and Guangdong has upgraded its level IV emergency response to level II. The Pearl River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources of China stated that "Vipa" is expected to move west-northwest at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour and may make landfall along the coastal areas from Shenzhen, Guangdong to Wenchang, Hainan on the afternoon of the 20th to the early morning of the 21st. Due to its impact, there will be heavy rainfall from east to west in the Pearl River Basin from the 19th to the 23rd. According to the Pearl River Commission, from the 19th to the 23rd, there may be significant rises in water levels in the middle and lower reaches of the Xijiang River and its tributaries like the Zhujiang River, and there is a risk of flash floods, geological disasters, and urban waterlogging in areas with heavy rain.
