Following the lifting of sanctions by the US government at the end of June on Syria, American energy companies are now seeking opportunities to enter the Syrian energy market. Jonathan Bass, CEO of American Agneth liquefied natural gas company, said on the 18th that the company will work with American Baker Hughes and Hunter Energy companies to develop an overall plan for the Syrian oil, gas, and power sectors, aiming to rebuild Syria's energy infrastructure. In a phone interview with Reuters reporters on the 18th, Bass said, "Based on our initial assessments of the opportunities for increasing power generation and improving services in the short term, we are initiating a comprehensive overall plan for the development of the Syrian energy and power industry." He stated that this plan will cover potential activities in the entire industry chain from energy exploration and production to power generation. "Our focus is on coordinating and cooperating with all stakeholders to revitalize the Syrian energy industry."
