Upgrade of flood defense in South China, Ministry of Water Resources initiates level IV response in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan.
The latest release from the Ministry of Water Resources states that, due to the impact of Typhoon "Nepartak", from July 19th to 21st, there will be a strong rainfall process in most of South China, Southeast Jiangnan, and Southeast Yunnan. On the morning of July 19th, the Ministry of Water Resources conducted a rolling consultation to assess the development of Typhoon "Nepartak" and its potential impact. Starting from 10:00 on July 19th, flood control level IV emergency response was activated for Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan provinces, timely issuing warning information, systematically, scientifically, safely, and accurately dispatching flood control projects, strengthening levee inspections and defenses, effectively implementing safety measures for reservoirs and ongoing projects during the flood season, with a general principle of emptying risky reservoirs, and preparing for floods in small and medium-sized rivers, flash floods, urban waterlogging and other disasters to ensure the safety of the people's lives and property. Currently, two working groups from the Ministry of Water Resources are assisting and guiding flood defense efforts on the front lines in Hainan and Guangdong.
