On July 19, President Xi Jinping and President Ghazouani of Mauritania exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. President Xi Jinping pointed out that in the 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritania, regardless of changes in the international situation, the two sides have always respected each other, treated each other as equals, and set an example of solidarity and mutual benefit among developing countries. In recent years, China-Mauritania relations have developed healthily and steadily, with increasingly consolidated political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in various fields. During the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation last year, I met with President Ghazouani and reached important consensus, jointly announcing the elevation of China-Mauritania relations to a strategic partnership and opening a new chapter in the bilateral relations. I attach great importance to the development of China-Mauritania relations and am willing to work together with President Ghazouani to take the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations as a new starting point, continue the traditional friendship, deepen mutual trust and cooperation, jointly create a new future for the development of China-Mauritania strategic partnership, and better benefit the two peoples. President Ghazouani stated that over the past 60 years, Mauritania and China have established a solid friendship, cooperated closely at all levels and supported each other on the international stage. During the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September 2024, President Xi Jinping and I jointly announced the elevation of the exemplary relationship between Mauritania and China to the level of a strategic partnership. This is the most authentic portrayal of the deepening development of the two countries' relationship, which will benefit the friendly peoples of the two countries and help promote the security and prosperity of all nations. On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang exchanged congratulatory messages with Prime Minister Ould Bedde of Mauritania. Li Keqiang stated that China is willing to work together with Mauritania to fully implement the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Ghazouani, continuously enriching the content of the China-Mauritania strategic partnership, using the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritania as an opportunity. Ould Bedde expressed that Mauritania adheres to the One-China principle and is willing to strengthen the Mauritania-China strategic partnership under the guidance of President Ghazouani and President Xi Jinping, serving the development of both countries.
