On the 19th, it was learned from the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Observatory that the sixth typhoon of this year, "Wipha", strengthened from tropical storm level to severe tropical storm level early on the 19th. At 07:00, its center was located at 20.0 degrees north latitude, 120.0 degrees east longitude, which is about 930 kilometers northeast of Wenchang City, Hainan Province, in the northeastern South China Sea. The maximum wind force near the center is level 10, and the radius of the 7th level wind circle is 260-380 kilometers. It is expected that "Wipha" will move in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 20-25 kilometers per hour, gradually intensifying, and gradually approaching the coast from Shenzhen, Guangdong to Wenchang, Hainan. It is expected to land on the aforementioned coast in the afternoon or evening of the 20th. The Hainan Provincial Meteorological Observatory predicts that due to the impact of "Wipha", from the 19th to the 22nd during the day, most of the sea areas in Hainan Province will experience strong wind and rain. From the night of the 19th to the day of the 22nd, Hainan Island will experience strong wind and rain, with the northern and western regions experiencing heavy to extremely heavy rain, locally. Accumulated rainfall from 20:00 on the 19th to 20:00 on the 22nd is expected to be: 300-400 millimeters in cities and counties such as Haikou, Chengmai, Lingao, Danzhou, Changjiang, Dongfang, and Ledong, with 600 millimeters locally; 120-300 millimeters in cities and counties such as Wenchang, Ding'an, Tunchang, Qiongzhong, Baisha, Wuzhishan, Baoting, and Sanya; and 80-120 millimeters in cities and counties such as Qionghai, Wanning, and Lingshui.
