Guangdong has activated 73 typhoon warnings.
On July 19, it was reported by the Guangdong Meteorological Department that at 8 o'clock that day, the center of Typhoon "Wipha" was approximately 860 kilometers northeast of Yangjiang City in the northeastern part of the South China Sea, with maximum wind force near the center reaching level 10 and the minimum central pressure of 985 hPa. It is expected that "Wipha" will move in a west-northwest direction at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour, gradually strengthening in intensity. As of 9:39, a total of 73 typhoon warning signals have been issued in the province. To cope with the extreme weather such as heavy rain and strong winds brought by Typhoon Wipha, to ensure the safety of railway operations and the safety of passengers' lives and properties, Guangdong Railway Group plans to initiate flood and typhoon emergency response on July 19 on high-speed rail lines such as Guangzhou-Zhuhai and Jiangmen-Zhanjiang, and on certain sections of railways such as Guangzhou-Maoming line, and plans to implement measures such as limited speed operation or suspension of some trains on the above-mentioned routes. As a result, some trains at stations such as Guangzhou South, Guangzhou Baiyun, Zhuhai, Zhanjiang West, and Maoming are expected to be delayed to varying degrees. It was noted that the Shantou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports issued an important announcement that all activities including the "Chaoren Tea Banquet" market and the "National Vocal Concert" scheduled to be held at Chaoren Pier on July 19 and 20 during the Cultural and Tourism Fashion Week in Shantou have been temporarily suspended. Due to the influence of Typhoon "Wipha," the management unit of the Nanao Bridge will timely implement corresponding control measures according to the weather conditions. The Nanao County Tourism Work Committee Office issued a reminder for travelers that all coastal tourist attractions in Nanao County are temporarily closed.
