The rivers in Chengdu may experience floods exceeding the warning level.
Affected by rainfall, the Hydrological Center of the Flood Control and Drought Relief Command Office in Sichuan Province has issued the latest warning that some small and medium-sized rivers in the western part of the basin may experience floods exceeding the alert water level. From 8:00 to 17:00 on July 18th, Chengdu, Ya'an, Meishan, Leshan, Mianyang, Deyang, Guangyuan and other areas experienced heavy to torrential rain, with localized intense rainfall, with the maximum rainfall during this period reaching 151.0mm at Anzihe Station in Chongzhou, Chengdu. Currently, the main rivers in the province are stable, with minor fluctuations in water levels below the alert level in some rivers in Chengdu, Ya'an, Leshan, Panzhihua, Ganzi and other areas. It is expected that from 20:00 on the 18th to 20:00 on the 20th, there may be a slight rise in water levels in the Minjiang River, Dadu River, Tuojiang River, and Fujiang mainstream, with a significant rise in water levels possible in the mainstream of Qingyi River. A total of 13 small and medium-sized rivers in Ya'an, Chengdu, and Meishan are expected to experience floods approaching or exceeding the alert water level, including: Nameshan River, Longxi River, Yuxi River, and Xiangling River in Ya'an City; Huaxi River and Anxi River in Meishan City; and the mainstream of Nanhe River and its tributaries Pujiang River, Baimo River, Linxi River, Xiejiang River, Zhujiang River, and Wenjin River in Chengdu. During this period, some mountain streams and small rivers in the western part of the basin may trigger flash floods, debris flows, and other disasters due to localized heavy rainfall. People in risk areas should stay away from valleys, mountain streams, and rivers, and camping and water activities should be avoided.
