Meituan announced that it will launch a nationwide subsidy for delivery workers' pension insurance.

On July 17th, during the "Delivery Riders Day" event, Meituan announced a comprehensive upgrade of four major protections for delivery riders. Social insurance will be fully implemented, and by the end of this year, pension insurance subsidies will be promoted nationwide, covering an estimated over one million delivery riders. The "work-related injury insurance" coverage has been expanded to 17 provinces and cities starting from July 1st, with Meituan paying the full amount. In terms of rider services, Meituan will establish 1000 "Rider Homes" within three years, jointly built and implemented with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, providing services and training for riders across the industry. In terms of rider family care, the "Tongzhou Fund" will be established, providing support for riders and their families in various areas such as scholarships for family members, major illness assistance, and general life and work support for riders in need. Additionally, there will be continuous upgrades to the safety system, including prevention, intervention, and compensation measures, with delivery riders who adhere to safety protocols being eligible for platform bonuses.
