The academic exchange conference on marine governance and development in 2025, organized by Dalian Maritime University, was held in Dalian, Liaoning on the 17th. Approximately 80 experts and scholars from domestic universities, research institutes, and think tanks attended the meeting. The conference had the theme of "Refutation and Response to the 'South China Sea Arbitration' from the Chinese Perspective," and participants had in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as the "legal refutation of the 'South China Sea Arbitration Award'," "the situation and tasks in the South China Sea," and "national marine governance and development." President of Dalian Maritime University, Shan Hongjun, stated that the South China Sea issue concerns national sovereignty and maritime rights, and that universities and think tanks should fully leverage their academic research advantages to contribute intellectual strength to the defense of national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, as well as the international dissemination of maritime discourse.
