Uber partners with Lucid and Nuro to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to launch self-driving taxis in the United States in 2026.
On July 17th local time, Uber announced that it will purchase and operate Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro Driver technology on its shared travel network. The company aims to launch the first vehicle in a major U.S. city in late 2026 and plans to deploy at least 20,000 self-driving taxis within six years. Uber also announced separate investments of hundreds of millions of dollars in Lucid and Nuro. The company stated that the funds will include $300 million for Lucid - some of which will be used to upgrade its assembly line to integrate Nuro hardware into Gravity vehicles.
