Advance urgent procurement projects Israel announces an additional $12.5 billion defense budget.
According to the main lobby, on July 17th local time, the Israeli Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Finance reached an agreement on the budget dispute caused by the previous Israel-Iran conflict and the military operation of the "Gideon Tank". The two ministries jointly issued a statement on the same day, announcing an additional 42 billion new shekels in defense budget from 2025 to 2026. According to the agreement, the funds will be used to advance urgent and critical defense procurement projects, replenish material reserves consumed in combat, and pay for expenses incurred by the large-scale conscription of reservists. The related allocations will begin to be implemented in 2025 and will be fully completed in 2026. It is reported that due to the current domestic political situation in Israel, the budget for 2026 is not yet certain, so the relevant bill has not officially been approved, but all parties have reached an agreement on the implementation framework. In addition, the joint statement pointed out that this additional budget only addresses the operational needs of the current stage and does not include additional expenses for strengthening border security on a daily basis.
